Five Mile Hike Opportunity

On Saturday April 23, we will have an opportunity for any/all scouts to take a five mile hike.  During this hike, scouts can get this requirements signed off:


5. Explain the rules of safe hiking, both on the highway and cross-country, during the day and at night. Explain what to do if you are lost.

9. Explain the importance of the buddy system as it relates to your personal safety on outings and in your neighborhood. Describe what a bully is and how you should respond to one.

Second Class

1 a. Demonstrate how a compass works and how to orient a map. Explain what map symbols mean.

1 b. Using a compass and a map together, take a five-mile hike (or 10 miles by bike) approved by your adult leader and your parent or guardian.

So bring your Ten (10) Essentials, a good pair of walking boots and let’s go on a walk.  Oh yes, bring your book too so it can get signed off.  It should be a nice time and we will do some Geocaching also!
