We are going to Camp Baldwin In Oregon from July 19-26th. The total cost is $285. We need to know who is going and get a $50 deposit by the end of the month.
Blue skies and warm winds on the eastern slope of Mt. Hood attract thousands of Scouts to this pine forested camp each year. The most unique and special feature of Camp Baldwin is the string of horses available for the Horsemanship merit badge and trail rides. The Friday evening barbecue followed by Baldwin’s American Heritage campfire, is the highlight of a Scout’s summer camp week.
Lake Hanel offers trout fishing as well as a complete aquatics program. The Rock Climbing merit badge program is offered to third year campers.
Meals are served “Jamboree” style. The camp provides the food and menus as well as chef tool and cooking kit, dutch oven and griddle for each patrol. The Scouts cook all but three meals in the campsite. Patrols become stronger because of this experience, especially valuable for newer Scouts.
Baldwin emphasizes outdoor activities that are packed, and fun for everyone. During the summer, a large herd of sixty horses fill the corral, and provide daily rides and overnight trips. While our horses are the center of attention at camp, we also provide a daring rock climbing program which will take you from novice to full fledged cliffhanger in a week. We also sport a mountain biking area, which offers day and overnight rides in the forest areas surrounding camp. The area also features the new mountain boarding program. Baldwin also has a lake for swimming, boating, canoeing, and fishing. Some of our other areas include nature, campcraft, handicraft, and the rifle and archery ranges.
